Before listing the 10 best waterfalls in Bali here are 3 things to note when visiting waterfalls in Bali.

  • Keep in mind that if you are visiting the waterfalls in the rainy season, you will experience them when they are the most powerful but the pool of water at the base of the waterfall and the river itself will be a brown muddy colour instead of a greenish-blue colour.
  • Most of the waterfalls in Bali will charge an entrance fee and they only take cash.
  • Always use caution when hiking to waterfalls, especially in the rainy season when the trails and rocks are muddy and slippery.

1. Sekumpul

Sekumpul is the tallest and most magical waterfall in Bali! It’s located in North Bali about a 2-hour drive from Ubud. There’s not just one, but three amazing waterfalls in this valley.

For viewing the falls, there are 3 different ticket options: View only, Medium Trek, Long Trek

You can observe the waterfall from above with an entrance ticket that only includes a view; it does not offer access to the falls itself. The cost of this ticket is 20,000 IDR per person.

I recommend the Long Trekking Tour. To see Sekumpul, Fiji, and the Hidden Waterfall, it will take you around an hour and a half. This ticket includes a local guide and costs 200,000 IDR per person.

This trip involves a lot of stairs, but it's well worth it to get a close-up look at these magnificent waterfalls. Be prepared to get wet from the mist of the falls. The Hidden Waterfall is the only one you can swim at.

2. Kanto Lampo

Kanto Lampo is a 30-minute drive away from Ubud town. This waterfall is easy to get to with just a short 5-minute walk. At the bottom of the flight of stairs, you have the option to go right or left. The right path leads you to the front of the waterfall while the left path leads you to a natural pool and river. There are also changing rooms on the left side.

Balinese locals will guide you to where it’s safe to stand under the waterfall and will take photos for you if you wish. They know the best lighting, poses and angles for your photos because of their experience in doing this every day, all day. Don’t forget to tip them :)

Entrance Fee: 20,000 IDR

3. Leke Leke

Leke Leke located North of Ubud is a beautiful tall narrow waterfall surrounded by lush green jungle.

It’s a quick 15-minute scenic walk through the jungle to the waterfall along a flat path and across wooden bridges. The best lighting for photos is anytime between 9 am – 3 pm.

Entrance Fee: 50,000 IDR

4. Banyumala Twin

The Banyumala Twin Waterfalls are two parallel waterfalls with a swimming pool at their base.

It’s about a 15-minute slightly difficult walk down to the waterfall. Be careful on your way down as the rocks are slippery.

If you visit Banyumala Twin, be sure to check out Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfall as well since they are both located in the mountainous region of Bedugul in North Bali.

Entrance Fee: 30,000 IDR

5. Banyu Wana Amertha

Banyu Wana Amertha is a unique waterfall that stretches out of a large rock wall covered in greenery!

There are 4 waterfalls to see here in different areas but on the same path. Once you reach a fork in the road past the entrance turn left at the sign and walk for about 5-10 minutes to reach the first two waterfalls.

Come back to the sign and walk another 5-10 minutes to reach the other two. The furthest waterfall (around a 15-20 minute walk) is Banyu Wana Amertha.

You can pay for a scooter taxi to take you down to the waterfall and bring you back if you prefer not to walk.

Entrance Fee: 30,000 IDR

6. Tukad Cepung

Tucked Cepung is situated in East Bali around 1-hour drive from Ubud town. From the parking lot, the waterfall is about a 15-minute walk with lots of stairs. You will need to walk through water in a cave to get to this waterfall so I suggest wearing appropriate clothing.

You have probably seen many photos of Tukad Cepung. It’s one of the most photogenic waterfalls in Bali! The best time of day to visit for photos and videos is between 10-1 pm when the sunlight shines into the cave.

Entrance Fee: 15,000 IDR

7. Tibumana

Tibumana Waterfall is located close to Goa Rang Rang and Kanto Lampo Waterfall so you could see all of these on the same day. The trail to Tibumana Waterfall is a 10-minute walk over bamboo bridges and through dense jungle.

Many people come to this waterfall to enjoy the tranquility and long hours of relaxation. Bring your swimmers so you can enjoy a wonderful massage beneath the waterfall while swimming here.

8. Goa Rang Reng

One of my favourite waterfalls in Bali is Goa Rang Reng Waterfall, a hidden gem. The waterfall is just a short 5-minute walk down some stairs. You can soak in the pools above the waterfall but be very careful as the rocks are slippery.

Make sure to ask one of the local guides at Goa Rang Rang to lead you through beautiful canyons to 3 hidden waterfalls. There is a swing at the last 2 waterfalls. The hike to these three waterfalls through the river will take about 10 minutes; in certain places, the water will reach your stomach. The local guides are donation-based so you can tip them whatever you think is appropriate.

Entrance Fee: 20,000 IDR

9. Gembleng

Gembleng Waterfall is not very well known to tourists, which is why it’s so serene. it offers relaxing rock pools and breathtaking views of the surrounding jungle and rice paddies.

You’ll need to climb the 60 stairs next to the waterfall to get to the top. Just be cautious when scrambling over rocks because they can get very slippery when wet!

There are two rock pools here you can relax in. The rock pool in the middle of the waterfall has the best view.

There are stairs that lead to a hidden viewpoint with breathtaking views of Sidemen at the top of the waterfall.

10. Aling Aling

Aling Aling Waterfall is part of the Secret Gardens of Sanbangan. You will need to purchase either a trekking or a visitor ticket. A visitor ticket costs 20,000 IDR and you can enter without a guide, but that means you can’t swim in, slide down or jump into any of the waterfalls. In order to do that, you have to book one of the three trekking tours.

I recommend the Medium Trekking Tour. In this tour, you will visit Aling Aling Waterfall, Blue Lagoon and Kroya Waterfall (water slides and cliff jumping). A local guide will be accompanying you on the trek.

Short Trek: 125,000 IDR

Medium Trek: 250, 000 IDR

Long Trek: 500,000 IDR

The waterfalls in Bali are an important part of the island's natural beauty. In addition to these 10, Bali is home to numerous other waterfalls, each of which has something unique to offer.
